Take a ride aboard the Sophie C, which is a U.S. mail boat. The boat departs from Weirs Beach, and is a sister vessel of the Mount Washington. The Sophie C is quite different than its big brother the Mount. It's lower to the water and much smaller, therefore it tends to rock slightly with the waves and just feels less like a cruise and more like a boat ride. It winds around the islands of Lake Winnipesaukee to deliver mail, and it even sells ice cream on board. It's typically more interesting for children.

Weirs Beach itself is flanked by a boardwalk lined with plenty of arcades, places to eat, and various activities. There are restrooms, and the Weirs is central to most other area attractions.  Some Friday nights during the summer there are fireworks at 10pm.  The rain date is the following night.  The beach is wide and sandy, and stays pretty shallow out a good ways making is good for water games.

Funspot is about one mile north of Weirs Beach on route 3 and is an establishment you can't miss it. It is an absolutely humongous arcade with games of every type and variety imaginable.  There is truly something for every age at Funspot. Mini-golf, driving range, indoor golf center, blowing alley, ropes course, cash bingo, a tavern and more. Funspot is currently the largest arcade in the world.

If it's warm, there is a small water park right at the Weirs which you probably noticed if you've been down there.  They are the Weirs Beach Water Slides. They are located right at the corner of Lakeside Ave and route 3, right at the Weirs Beach sign.

If you head up route 11b from its intersection with route three, you'll see the Daytona Fun Park.  They offer go karts, batting cages, a climbing wall, bumper boats, a bunjee thingy and another mini golf course.  There is also another go-kart track across the street from Funspot.

The Squam Lakes Natural Science Center is an excellent place to go if your kids don't mind a little walking. Walk the trails to see live animals and educational exhibits. You will observe bears, deer, eagles, bobcats, owls, mountain lions, foxes, and more.  It's a bit of a drive from the Weirs area, but its worth it. Consult their website for directions.

Meadowbrook's summer series often nets some big name performers that your youngsters might like.  In the past, names such as N 'Sync and 98 Degrees were here.  Adults might prefer performances by Bill Cosby, Alan Jackson, The Boston Pops, The Beach Boys, and quite a few more.  Check their site for the latest lineup.

Beans & Greens Farmstand has a few live animals that might interest kids, along with a koi pond, corn maze and various activities scheduled throughout the summer.  Adults will love the backdrop of hills for a nice picnic as  they have a large selection of locally made products and baked goods.

This last one is geared mostly for adults, but has something unique kids might like.  Castle in the Clouds offers stunning views of the lake and mountains, an area to get food and ice cream to enjoy on a nice patio overlooking everything, and a self guided tour of a beautiful castle with a remarkable history.  Before you go, stop at a store and pick up a loaf of bread to keep in your car.  On the way out from the Castle, stop at Shannon pond on your right.  There are fish in this pond that are more like the size of sharks; just plain huge.  There are fish food dispensers there, but the fish are tired of that snack.  Tear a few slices of bread into a little pieces and then throw them in all at once.  They will thrash so violently that people lining the edge of the docks will get splashed with water. They will often jump up clear out of the water. Interested in more photos?

This is just a sampler of some of the things you can do with your children around here.  It is by no means a complete list!
