While New Hampshire is advertised as a "tax free" state, you of course know that New Hampshire has the same bills to pay as any other state, and you also know that money doesn't grow on trees.  With that in mind...

• There is no general statewide sales tax.

• There is an 8% tax on any meals costing over $1.00. This usually does not include pre-cooked and prepared meals and food items one could purchase at any major grocery store.

• There is an 8% tax on lodging of stays less than ninety days, including condos.

The below table shows you the actual cost of a hotel room with the 8 percent tax added in. Take note that the nightly rate as advertised by any given property will almost never include the tax.
